Job description

Mount St Joseph are currently seeking an Assistant Head of Maths. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust at the beginning of a journey of transition, development, and growth within the multi‑academy trust.

Mount St. Joseph is a Roman Catholic voluntary-aided 11–16 comprehensive school under the trusteeship of the Salford Diocese. The school is part of the St Teresa of Calcutta Trust.

The school’s Instrument of Government affirms its identity as part of the Catholic Church and its commitment to operating in accordance with Canon Law, the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and the Trust Deed of the Diocese of Salford.

Our mission is to secure the highest academic achievement for every student, foster a strong sense of personal and social responsibility, and nurture a deepening love and understanding of the Catholic faith. Our Mission Statement underpins all aspects of school life:

  • As a community of learners, we aspire for every individual to achieve their full academic potential within a happy, safe, and caring environment.
  • As a community of believers, we strive to develop a strong awareness of our spiritual and moral responsibilities, alongside a deepening love and understanding of our faith.
  • As a community of friends, we aim to positively influence those around us by using our unique gifts and talents to support one another’s social and cultural development, contributing to a better world.

Purpose of the role:

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, enthusiastic teaching professional who can work as part of our dedicated and exceptional team. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate the ability to meet the Teachers’ Standards. All classroom teachers will contribute to the curriculum and year teams in supporting the school’s mission statement and achieving its aims. As a professional within a Catholic School, you will be expected to enhance the life of the school by delivering and developing high quality teaching and learning, contributing to the work of the teams of teaching and support staff, being reflective about your own practice and effectiveness: sharing with, and learning from the work of others, and constantly seeking ways to improve through innovation and research.

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Is an exceptional practitioner with strong subject knowledge and experience of raising achievement across the age and ability range.
  • Is highly motivated by a belief that the life chances of all young people can be improved.
  • Is a well-qualified, industrious, and talented team player who believes in lifelong learning and can help pupils develop the skills and attitudes they will need in their future lives.
