Assistant Head of Department (Inclusion)

Location: Preston, Lancashire

Clarus Education is seeking an Assistant Head of Department (Inclusion) to join our Supported Learning Development team across three campuses. This is a permanent, full-time role starting ASAP, offering a salary of £44,409.00 per annum plus staff benefits.

Role Details
  • Weekly Hours: 37 hours, Monday to Friday
  • Location: Preston, Lancashire, United Kingdom
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department and other team members to coordinate daily activities.
  • Embed equality, diversity, and inclusion practices, supporting students with SEND and High Needs.
  • Develop and implement personalised curricula with ambitious outcomes for students with High Needs.
  • Manage staffing and timetables to maximize student achievement.
  • Lead inclusive practices and mentor colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance with college systems related to learning support.
  • Support curriculum development within the department and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate student records and support internal quality assurance.
  • Promote a collaborative approach to resource planning and support.
Candidate Requirements
  • Strong leadership qualities and experience in SEN or SEND settings.
  • High-level pedagogic practice and ability to inspire inclusion.
  • Experience in curriculum development and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of internal quality assurance processes.
  • Post-16 experience in a college or school setting.
  • Effective management of staff wellbeing and HR policies.
  • Ability to implement reasonable adjustments for inclusion.
