Job Description: Assistant Head of Department (Inclusion)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £44,409 per annum
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Department in the effective management and leadership of the Inclusion team, ensuring high standards of education and support for all learners.
- Develop and implement inclusive teaching practices and strategies that promote equality, diversity, and accessibility for all students.
- Oversee the assessment and monitoring of students with special educational needs, ensuring timely and effective interventions are provided.
- Collaborate with academic staff, parents, and external agencies to create and maintain effective support networks for students.
- Lead training sessions and workshops for staff on inclusive practices and the promotion of positive learning environments.
- Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures related to inclusion and special educational needs.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of inclusion strategies, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Represent the Inclusion department at meetings and contribute to strategic planning at the college level.
Essential Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- A relevant degree in Education, Special Educational Needs, or a related field.
- Sound knowledge of the UK education system, particularly regarding inclusion and special educational needs.
Desired Experience:
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience in a relevant educational setting.
- Experience in a leadership or management role, preferably with a focus on inclusion.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing inclusive practices that improve student outcomes.
- Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency teams to support students.
