Job description

Assistant Head of Department Construction (Trowel Trades & Multi-Skills)
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Assistant Head of Department to support the leadership of a busy Construction & Building Services team, with a focus on Trowel Trades and Multi-Skills.

In this key role, you ll assist in managing curriculum delivery, staff performance, and quality assurance across multiple campuses. You ll help ensure high teaching standards, excellent learner outcomes, and strong industry links, while also supporting course development, student recruitment, and team coordination.

What we re looking for:

  • Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS, or equivalent)

  • Industry-relevant construction qualification

  • Experience leading or supervising staff within education/training

  • Strong knowledge of awarding body requirements and quality processes

  • A proactive, organised and team-focused approach

A teaching qualification and/or internal quality assurance award is essential (or willingness to work towards). Experience working in further education and managing study programmes is highly desirable.
