Position Overview:

We are seeking an Assistant Growing Manager to oversee the production and harvesting of field-grown crops, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for agricultural management.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain accurate records of all growing activities, including groundwork, planting, irrigation, fertilization, and crop protection.
  2. Provide bi-weekly crop availability forecasts to the Farm Manager, highlighting potential quality or availability issues.
  3. Develop and deliver induction training programs for new employees and ensure staff compliance with health and safety procedures.
  4. Ensure proper maintenance, storage, and use of all equipment and protective gear used in production and harvesting.
  5. Conduct assessments of staff competency post-training and manage accident investigations and reporting.
  6. Assist the Farm Manager with additional tasks and act in their place when necessary.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience in agricultural management or a related field.
  2. Full UK Driving License.
  3. Certification in PA 1/2 is required.
  4. Strong leadership and communication skills.
  5. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  6. Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to agriculture.
  7. Proficiency in IT applications related to agricultural management.
