Salisbury Cathedral are looking to recruit an Assistant Glazing Manager to join their well-established team.

This role offers a unique opportunity for professional development and succession planning for the department, providing essential support across all areas and deputising for the Glazing Manager.

About the Role

The post holder will shadow the current Glazing Manager in order to learn all aspects of running this busy department including all relevant documentation to encompass fulfilling the Cathedral’s financial regulations and Health and Safety requirements while liaising with external clients and providing information throughout the organisation and beyond in assisting all levels of management and directors, researchers and statutory bodies. The postholder will be expected to assist in a variety of activities from hands-on, physical work to communication with various clients and stakeholders across a diverse range of sites.

  • Willingness to attain or already possess ICON accreditation
  • Willingness to join, or membership of, the British Society of Master Glass Painters (BSMGP)
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to undertake physically demanding tasks in varied environments and weather conditions
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks effectively, particularly under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people, including clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and proactive attitude
  • Familiarity with basic IT applications, including document creation, email communication, and project management software
  • Experience in leading or assisting in large-scale conservation projects
  • Knowledge of specialised conservation techniques
  • Experience working with external clients and managing projects from inception to completion
