Job description

Summary:
The Assistant General Manager of Event Sales and Venue Operations is a key strategic leadership position within Gila River Development, responsible for overseeing business development, sales, and day to day operations in all GRD venues and staff including Firebird Motorsports Park, Rawhide and Live Productions. This role is also focused on identifying and executing new business ventures that align with GRD's goals and objectives, while ensuring a high-quality, memorable experience for guests. In addition to supervising marketing and event functions, the Assistant General Manager will lead hospitality and entertainment operations and develop long-term strategies that contribute to organizational growth.


Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
• Oversee day to day operations of all Gila River Development venues and staff, providing leadership and guidance to the teams responsible for each business including Firebird Motorsports Park, Rawhide Event Center, Live Productions.
• Lead and align the marketing team to ensure strategies and initiatives support overall company objectives.
• Foster a high-performing, diverse team of leaders and staff by building, guiding, and mentoring personnel within the event sales and event operations sectors of GRD.

Event Sales and Venue Operations:
• Responsible for the planning, organization and execution of Event Sales and Venue Operations such as concerts, live performances and exhibitions.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of all Event Sales and Venue Operations teams to ensure exceptional customer experience and satisfaction.
• Develop and implement a long-term strategy for Firebird Motorsports, Rawhide and Live Production offerings, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Manage GRD properties and venues, ensuring they are well-maintained and aligned with customer experience objectives.

Marketing & Social Media:
• Oversee all digital marketing efforts, including social media content creation, email marketing campaigns, and digital advertising to increase brand awareness and event attendance.
• Manage and grow GRD's presence across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn), ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to produce high-quality promotional materials, video content, and graphics for events and initiatives.
• Track and analyze marketing campaign performance metrics and adjust strategies to optimize reach, engagement, and ROI.
• Ensure marketing compliance with brand guidelines and community values, promoting a positive image of GRD and its venues.
• Report regularly to the General Manager on marketing and social media impact, insights, and opportunities for growth.

Financial & Business Development:
• Prepare and manage P&L budgets, monitor expenses, and optimize financial performance to meet profitability targets provided by the General Manager.
• Collaborate with the external marketing teams to promote Firebird Motorsports, Rawhide and Live Production, driving revenue growth and attracting larger audiences.
• Manage all talent acquisition and contracts for external entertainment.

Strategic & Community Engagement:
• Serve as a spokesperson for the organization at public events, meetings, and media engagements.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with sponsors, stakeholders, and the community to enhance the organizations Event Sales and Venue offerings.
• Provide recommendations to the General Manager and executive leadership regarding community engagement strategies and organizational positioning.

Compliance & Innovation:
• Ensure compliance with all industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices in hospitality, Event Sales and Venue Operations industry.
• Stay updated on industry trends and innovations, introducing new experiences to enrich the organization's offerings.
• Monitor competition and adapt strategies accordingly.

Additional Duties:
• Oversee venue facilities planning and design for projects aligned with the organization's development agenda.
• Manage contracts beyond day-to-day operations, evaluating their return on investment for the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Supervisor Responsibility:
Oversee the supervision of personnel, which includes hiring, work allocation, training, problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; provides guidance and feedback for assigned staff.

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in an office environment.
• Work will be performed both inside and outside on a regular basis, in most weather conditions.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.
• Occasional local day travel, Local travel to managed businesses.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or related Field.
• Ten (10) years' experience in Hospitality and entertainment industry, with progressively increasing responsibility, including management and leadership roles.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for client meetings and events.
• Valid AZ driver's license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report.
• Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire.
• A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
• Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or related Field.
• Strong leadership and people management abilities, capable of motivating and guiding teams to achieve goals.
• A deep understanding of the hospitality and entertainment industry, including trends, market dynamics, and customer preferences.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interacting with team members, customers, and external partners.
• Proven ability to analyze complex situations, make strategic decisions, and resolve issues promptly.
• Familiarity with financial management principles, budgeting, and cost control.
• A customer centric approach, committed to delivery exceptional guest experiences.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing market conditions and business needs.
• Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
• Demonstrate sound work ethic substantial administrative and management skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills: ability to prioritize time and responsibilities in such a way as to fulfill primary goals and complete numerous details that accompany each project.
• Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
