Job: Assistant General Manager

Location: Experimental Cocktail Club Chinatown

We are looking for an Assistant General Manager to join our dynamic team and lead effectively!

You will be responsible for various operational matters and support the General Manager in his daily tasks. Together, you will lead and coordinate the bar's activities with a focus on customer and team satisfaction. In the absence of the General Manager, you will ensure the smooth running of the bar, make decisions, and uphold group standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Bar Operations & Drinks Offer:

  • Ensure the smooth operation of the bar.
  • Prepare and serve high-quality cocktails, maintaining our principle of providing the best drinking experience without pretension.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality beverages are served.
  • Participate in creating the cocktail menu with the General Manager, updating it at least once per season.
  • Keep menus up-to-date and accurate.
  • Order alcohol, fruits, etc., in cooperation with the General Manager.
  • Manage inventory of alcohols & spirits, soft drinks, glassware, bartending tools, and accessories.

Team Management:

  • Participate in recruitment and onboarding of the bar team with HR and the General Manager.
  • Introduce new recruits to the group's vision, values, and mission.

In cooperation with the General Manager:

  • Train bartenders and barbacks.
  • Manage staff schedules to ensure full staffing during peak times.
  • Handle staff complaints and report to the General Manager.
  • Create a positive work environment to promote employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements (wages, health and safety, etc.).
  • Track hours, absences, lateness, and time-off requests.
  • Verify adherence to opening and closing procedures.

Physical Maintenance & Repair:

  • Oversee cleanliness and health standards.
  • Apply food and beverage regulations.
  • Report maintenance issues to the General Manager.

Guest Relations:

In cooperation with the General Manager:

  • Address customer feedback and resolve complaints.
  • Create a welcoming environment, assess needs, and make recommendations.
  • Coordinate with the Booking Agent to optimize scheduling and staffing.

About You:

  • Experience in a similar role within a cocktail bar.
  • Excellent knowledge of spirits and cocktails.
  • Attention to detail and customer needs.
  • Social, engaging, and motivated.
  • Flexible and adaptable to work situations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
