Job summary

Derek Rose in London is seeking an Assistant Garment Technologist to support the sampling team from first proto to approved production sample, ensuring garments fit and perform as expected. You will own sample management for the London office, track locations, stages, owners and return dates, and prepare for fittings, photosho ots and supplier communications.

The role requires a degree in garment tech or similar and 1–2 years' experience; proficiency in Excel and meticulous attention to detail

Qualifications

• Garment technology degree or equivalent qualification with 1–2 years’ relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of garment construction, measuring and fit.
• Proficient in Excel and other tracking systems.
• Exceptionally organised with attention to detail.
• Clear written communication, including with overseas suppliers.
• Ability to juggle multiple requests from several teams and prioritise.

Responsibilities

• Support the development process and coordinate day-to-day activities.
• Prepare for fit sessions, measure samples, photograph, and note comments.
• Write fit comments and share feedback with suppliers.
• Build and maintain tech packs, measurement specs and grading data.
• Check construction, trims, labels and finishing against standards.
• Track fabric and garment test reports with suppliers.
• Run the London office sample tracker with stage, location and return date.
• Coordinate samples for photoshoots, press requests and meetings.
• Manage courier requests, bookings and paperwork.
