Job summary

Brackenberry in Walsall is seeking an Assistant Assurance Officer on a 3-month contract to help clear backlogs, review records, and prepare them for disclosure. The role requires understanding of data protection legislation, especially SAR and FOI, and the ability to apply exemptions and redactions.

You will assist with clearing SAR/FOI backlogs, review information, apply redactions, and prepare for quality checking before disclosure.

Qualifications

• Experience handling Subject Access Requests (SAR) and/or FOI requests.
• Good knowledge of data protection requirements relating to SAR and FOI.
• Experience applying appropriate exemptions and redactions.
• Experience managing and responding to FOI requests is desirable.
• Familiarity with Nitro Pro or Copilot is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clearing the backlog of SAR and FOI requests.
• Review records and information in response to requests.
• Apply exemptions and redactions in line with data protection and FOI requirements.
• Prepare records for quality checking prior to disclosure.
• Support the team in managing demand for FOI responses.
• Manage and respond to FOI requests effectively and within requirements.
