Job description

Santander Consumer Finance UK (SCUK) is based in Redhill, Surrey, and provides motor finance to a network of car dealerships throughout the United Kingdom.

We now have an exciting opportunity to join our finance team as an Assistant Financial Accountant for SCUK and its associated Joint Venture (JV) partners. The purpose of this role is to support the Head of Accounting and Financial Accounting Manager with monthly recurring tasks related to reporting, reconciliation, payments, analysis, and review, which are essential for statutory and regulatory compliance.

You will report to the Financial Accounting Manager and work within a small Management Accounting Team.

Please note this role is hybrid, requiring at least 3 days a week in the Redhill office. Working hours are 9–5, with flexibility around month-end. Remote work will not be considered.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Monthly OPEX reporting for the JV partners
  • Posting monthly journals such as OPEX, depreciation, and provision charges
  • Owning the JV’s Finance pack, including analysis and review of JV performance
  • Acting as the point of contact for external and internal auditors
  • Assisting in clearing non-reconciling balance sheet accounts and submitting AORP reconciliations
  • Providing administrative support for the ARCS system
  • Supporting the financial accounting team with tasks such as raising CHAPS payments and investigating historic transactions
  • Managing invoicing and reporting processes for the JV
  • Assisting with monthly Cargabal 21 reporting
  • Backfilling the SCUK OPEX Accountant during busy periods and supporting fellow Assistant Financial Accountants as needed
  • Adhering to our commitment to Consumer Duty by prioritizing customer needs and maintaining high standards of consumer protection

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in a similar role within a regulated environment
  • AAT, part-qualified Accountant, or working towards a recognized accounting qualification
  • Strong numeracy and mathematical skills
  • Expertise in Excel
  • Excellent time management and organized working methods
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
