Job description

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Accountant to support our operational objectives and deliver high-quality, cost-effective services within our Finance team.

Working alongside our Finance Manager, you will implement best-in-class processes and foster continuous improvements in our control environment.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, based two days a week at our Swindon office.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring cash position, completing daily reconciliations, and posting monthly to the GL
• Managing month-end processes, including journals, analysis, and reconciliations
• Carrying out Platform Cash Control reconciliations, handling queries, and liaising with Payment Services
• Reconciling and analyzing balance sheet accounts regularly, investigating and resolving queries promptly
• Owning fixed asset accounting and the annual verification process
• Reconciling and posting intercompany and intra-group transactions, preparing supporting documentation
• Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Supporting internal and external audit processes
• Responding to queries and issues professionally and promptly
• Maintaining sections of the Finance Function Manual and Operating Procedures
• Completing ONS returns
• Handling relevant ad hoc tasks to support development and study initiatives

What you'll need to succeed:

• Part-qualified, studying accountant, or qualified by experience
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is advantageous
• Experience in a financial accounting role within a large organization is preferable
• Deadline-driven and task-oriented
• Experience with cash reconciliation is useful
• Understanding of accounting principles in a business environment
• Professional, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
• Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
• Strong Excel skills for data analysis, modeling, and reporting
• Effective time management skills; able to prioritize, resource, and plan workload; proactive when appropriate
• Understanding of high standards in Finance
