Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
  • Studying towards an accountancy qualification is preferred.
  • Experience with financial systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Support year-end accounts process and annual audit preparation.
  • Prepare accruals, prepayments, and departmental P&L reports.
  • Produce reconciliations including PMI and stock control.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation.
  • Provide financial support to Business Partners and assist with budgets.

Job description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Accountant to join our finance team at our Maidstone hospital. Reporting to the Financial Accounts Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the delivery of accurate, efficient, and timely financial support across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Financial Accounts Manager in preparing accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports within agreed timescales.
  • Support the year-end accounts process and annual audit preparation.
  • Prepare accruals, prepayments, and departmental P&L reports.
  • Produce accurate reconciliations (including PMI, GRNI, online bookings, and stock control).
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring depreciation is correctly calculated.
  • Provide financial support and ad hoc reporting to Business Partners and assist with budget meetings.
  • Support the Purchase Ledger and Junior Assistant Accountant as required, including invoice entry, queries, and filing.
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and process improvements within Finance.
  • Undertake any other finance-related duties as directed by the Financial Accounts Manager or Head of Finance.

  • Understanding of medical terminology or prior healthcare finance experience.
  • Studied or studying towards an accountancy qualification (AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) Qualifications
