Role Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team ASAP. You will be part of a small, close-knit team of five, working within a larger finance function of 20-25 people, mostly based in the UK. We operate with a startup mentality, meaning you'll need to be hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable dealing with ambiguity. This role requires someone who can take initiative, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be willing to put in the hard work needed to support a growing company.

What to Expect:

This is a fast-paced role where you will learn through hands-on experience rather than formal training programs. You'll receive on-the-job training, working closely with experienced team members who will support your development as you take on real responsibilities from day one.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Financial Record-Keeping - Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Financial Reporting - Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Data Analysis - Support financial analysis and reporting, providing insights into financial performance and variances.
  • Audit & Compliance - Assist senior team members in preparing for external audits and ensure adherence to relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaboration - Work closely with other finance team members and cross-functional departments to drive effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Process Improvement - Identify areas for improvement in financial processes and contribute to the development of more efficient practices.
What We're Looking For:
  • Finance background with knowledge of accounting principles, either through qualification or experience.
  • Part-qualified and working towards a professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with both finance and non-finance teams.
  • Excel (intermediate level) is a must; knowledge of business/management information systems is a plus.
  • Experience in balance sheet reconciliation is desirable; month-end financial processes are preferred.
