Job description

At Fisher German, our customers and clients are at the heart of what we do. We have long-standing relationships with many of our clients through the generations (some up to 80+ years). This is due to the trust they have in us to deliver what we say we will on time. We are a multi-disciplinary surveying consultancy with a history to be proud of.

Due to growth, we’re now looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the Financial Control Team based in our Head Office, working within our hybrid working policy. This role will suit you if you have some experience within a finance/accounting department, are a strong team player, and are driven by a high attention to detail. The core purpose of this role is to maintain financial control across the Fisher German Group alongside project work to help drive the function forward and to improve processes.

The role will be based from our Ashby de la Zouch office, it will be full time (Monday – Friday, 9am – 5.30pm) however we can be flexible on start/finish times as long as our core hours of 10am – 4pm are covered.

Duties will include:
  1. Maintenance and control of the general ledger
  2. Assistance in the preparation of the year-end accounts
  3. Helping to ensure the year-end audit process is smooth
  4. Assistance in the preparation of the monthly consolidation
  5. Control of the balance sheets for all group entities
  6. Assistance with ad hoc projects as necessary (i.e acquisitions, system upgrades, tax initiatives, etc)
  7. Ad hoc reports and tasks as required
The successful candidate will have...
  1. Previous experience in a financial control role
  2. A strong drive to improve systems and processes and get the best out of our systems
  3. Exceptionally high attention to detail
  4. Be a strong team player with the ability to work to your own initiative
  5. Excellent communication skills at a variety of levels
  6. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, specifically pivot tables, formulas, V-lookups, IF statements
  7. Confidence with a friendly personality
  8. Studying for a professional accounting qualification (desirable)
