Job description

We are seeking to recruit an experienced and committed Assistant Finance Manager to provide direct ancillary support to our Finance Manager. The role is based within the Finance Office at George Heriot’s, which manages all finance functions for George Heriot School, Charitable Trust, and two subsidiary entities.

The role has a particular focus on payroll and pensions support but covers a broad range of finance functions. It is a great opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to join a supportive and motivated finance team.

Although primarily based within the school, we welcome applications from those seeking flexible working arrangements.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience required includes:

  • Some experience of administering payroll and pensions, including final salary and auto-enrolment schemes
  • Specific experience with the Scottish Teachers Pension Scheme is desirable but not essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (minimum Intermediate level)
  • Part-qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CA) or qualified by experience
  • Proven experience in a similar professional environment
  • Experience in the Education or Charity sector is advantageous but not essential
