Job description

Assistant Finance Manager £34,000 - £38,000

Labman are seeking an enthusiastic, pro-active, Assistant Finance Manager to join our dynamic workforce at our globally recognised and multi-award-winning company. Headquartered in North Yorkshire, specialising in design and manufacture of bespoke laboratory automation systems and products for a diverse range of industries worldwide.

What you will do:

  • Maintain Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) ledger control and provide accurate reporting to the finance manager.
  • Prepare and process monthly BACS payment information.
  • Investigate and resolve account discrepancies by liaising with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Generate and issue sales invoices promptly and accurately.
  • Conduct credit control activities as required.
  • Post entries to and reconcile cash book and associated postings in Sage Intacct.
  • Review and process monthly credit card statements efficiently.
  • Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring accurate monthly Fixed Asset Reporting.
  • Control general prepayments and accruals, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Allocate and process invoices through Yooz and Sage Intacct as needed.
  • Maintain historical financial records by organizing and filing purchase ledger and other finance documents.
  • Process the VAT return with various analysis and reconciliation to prime documents and legislation.
  • Assist with overseeing the day-to-day running of the finance team and report into the Finance Manager.
  • Various other accounting and administrative duties as required.

Essential Capabilities:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a finance role within a manufacturing or commercial environment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including strong analytical and reporting skills).
  • Strong numerical and verbal reasoning abilities with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels, with strong written and verbal abilities.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls and their implementation.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and prioritise workloads.
  • Working knowledge of Sage Intacct or similar would be an advantage.
  • Experience presenting to senior management.
