Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Finance and Corporate Services (FCS) Team as an Assistant Finance Manager. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen a broad range of skills and competencies, whilst gaining valuable insight into the important work carried out by the agency.

As part of Transport Scotland’s Finance and Corporate Services directorate, the Assistant Finance Manager will work closely with both Finance Managers and Finance Business Partners as well as providing support across the wider finance function, including the accounts payable and financial accounting team.

Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to the timely and accurate completion of budgeting monitoring and reporting exercises.
  2. Support the provision of regular, high quality financial information and analysis, developing and using knowledge of local directorate and policy issues.
  3. Build and maintain effective working relationships with business areas and the wider finance team.
  4. Provide support and advice on finance and governance related issues, the application of robust financial controls, and specific commissions to the Finance Business Partner, other directorates and financial accounting team as required.
  5. Assist as required in the preparation and collation of the Transport Scotland Annual Report and Accounts and liaise with internal and external audit.
Qualifications

We are keen to support suitable candidates in working towards becoming fully CCAB qualified and currently have a number of trainees studying towards a relevant qualification.

Working Pattern

Our standard hours are 35 hours per week. We offer a range of flexible and hybrid working options depending on the needs of the role. If you have specific questions about the role you are applying for, please contact us.

You will require to be office based twice per week.
