Job description

On behalf of the Bank of England, we are looking for an Assistant Finance Business Partner (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based in London 2 days per week.

This is an Assistant Finance Business Partner role, working within Financial Stability and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) Finance Business Partner team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist FBPs in preparing regular cost and performance management information (MI) for senior executives.
  • Perform month-end activities, prepare and present accurate and timely monthly performance reports.
  • Collaborate with the business area and assisting FBPs to prepare budgets and forecasts, reviewing the projected costs ensuring they are on a sound basis.
  • Build relationships with the Business stakeholders, FBP team and the wider Finance & Performance directorate, demonstrating the ability to work and communicate at various levels in the organisation and to work well within the team.
  • Collaborate and support the broader Finance & Performance directorate on ad hoc analysis as and when required, including process optimisation as required demonstrating the willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
  • Support the FBPs to review and challenge of investment projects, ensuring effective financial management and sound financial planning assumptions.

Essential skills and qualifications:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial and analytical information clearly across all levels of the organisation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for high-quality presentations; highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Collaborative team player with flexibility to support wider team deliverables, contribute to cross-functional initiatives, and adapt to ongoing change while maintaining attention to detail and analytical rigour.
  • Currently studying towards, or have a strong interest in pursuing, a professional qualification with a recognised UK accounting body (e.g. ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Active SC Clearance.

Desirable skills and qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems.
  • Understanding of public sector finance or similar environments.
