About The Role

Location: Thornton Farm - York

Are you passionate about agriculture? Do you have experience or qualifications in farming or livestock? We are looking for a highly competent and motivated Assistant Farm Manager to join our team at Thornton. The role is farm-based, working in a modern, hygienic environment where noise levels can be high.

Hours of Work

Monday to Sunday, 6 days a week, 07:30 - 16:00

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain optimal environmental conditions for bird welfare and biosecurity
  • Feed, vaccinate, and grade birds
  • Ensure site maintenance and standards are met
  • Supervise staff and third parties, ensuring safety compliance
  • Adhere to legislative and assurance standards
  • Keep accurate records as per company and legal requirements
  • Manage costs effectively
  • Maintain animal welfare, hygiene, and husbandry standards
  • Assist with other farm sites when needed
  • Cover for the Farm Manager as required
Candidate Requirements
  • Own transport is essential
  • Experience with livestock, preferably poultry
  • NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Poultry or similar qualification desirable
  • Effective communication and people skills
  • Willingness to learn and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently and perform manual duties
  • Basic IT skills
