About The Role

Location: Thornton Farm - York

We are looking for a highly competent and motivated Assistant Farm Manager to join our team at Thornton. The role is farm-based, working in a modern, hygienic environment where noise levels can be high.

Hours of Work

Monday to Sunday, 6 days a week, 07:30 - 16:00

Key Responsibilities

Maintain optimal environmental conditions for bird welfare and biosecurity
Feed, vaccinate, and grade birds
Ensure site maintenance and standards are met
Supervise staff and third parties, ensuring safety compliance
Adhere to legislative and assurance standards
Keep accurate records as per company and legal requirements
Manage costs effectively
Maintain animal welfare, hygiene, and husbandry standards
Assist with other farm sites when needed
Cover for the Farm Manager as required

Candidate Requirements

Own transport is essential
Experience with livestock, preferably poultry
NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Poultry or similar qualification desirable
Effective communication and people skills
Willingness to learn and self-motivated
Ability to work independently and perform manual duties
Basic IT skills
