Job summary

Supaloc, a Bluescope steel framing systems manufacturer, is seeking an Assistant Factory Manager at our Edinburgh facility. You will coordinate the production and assembly teams to ensure safe, quality steel frames and components are manufactured and packed on schedule.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will lead and develop the workforce, drive continuous improvement, manage planning and resources, and ensure adherence to site EBA requirements while minimising waste.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or managing production/assembly teams.
• Strong safety leadership and proactive safety culture.
• Background in manufacturing or mechanical trades.
• Lean / continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Champion a safety-first culture at the Edinburgh Supaloc factory.
• Maintain a strong pipeline of internal and agency talent for production continuity.
• Lead, coach and develop the workforce to excel and grow.
• Manage production resources through planning, monitoring and appraisal.
• Ensure compliance with site EBA requirements.
• Execute weekly production plans with focus on minimising waste and stoppages.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Optimize use of the D365 system in production, inventory, ETS and orders.

About the opportunity

You will be responsible for coordinating the production and assembly teams to ensure safe manufacture and packaging of quality steel frames and components. You will report to the Production Manager and be part of a collaborative team where your continuous improvement ideas are valued, and your professional growth is supported. More specifically, you will:

• Champion a safety-first culture at the Edinburgh Supaloc factory workforce
• Ensure a solid pipeline of talent via our internal recruitment team and labour hire agency to minimize interruptions to production schedules
• Lead, coach and develop the workforce to excel and grow, supporting skill-development efforts
• Manage all activities within the scope of the role by through effective communication, planning, monitoring, and appraisal of resources
• Ensure workforce activities comply with current site EBA requirements.
• Execute weekly production plans with a focus on minimising waste and stoppages
• Drive the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure optimum use of the D365 system in production, inventory, ETS and production order management
