We are a leading specialist in joinery manufacturing, providing high-quality products for shopfitting, high-end residential projects, hotels, and bespoke residential clients. Our team excels in crafting custom furniture, wall panels, wardrobes, and bathroom fittings, working with project values ranging from £100,000 to £2 million. We are now seeking a proactive Assistant Estimator to join our estimating team and contribute to our growing portfolio of work.
Job Overview:
As an Assistant Estimator, you will work closely with the Estimating Manager and two other estimators to support the pricing and estimation of bespoke joinery projects. Ideally, you will have a background in joinery or manufacturing, but training will be provided if required. You will be responsible for reviewing designs and drawings, preparing estimates, and ensuring the timely submission of project bids. This is an office-based role with some flexibility around working hours to accommodate personal commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimating & Pricing:
Review designs and drawings to prepare accurate estimates for joinery projects.
Price projects ranging from £100,000 to £2 million in value across shopfitting, high-end residential, and hotel sectors.
Assist in preparing and submitting tenders in line with client requirements.
- Collaboration:
Work alongside the Estimating Manager and two experienced estimators to support the preparation of estimates.
Collaborate with the production team to understand manufacturing capabilities and ensure accurate pricing.
Engage in the open office environment to exchange ideas and problem-solve with other team members.
- Management:
Maintain and update pricing templates using Excel and other bespoke software platforms.
Assist with quantity take-offs from technical drawings and specifications.
Track and manage all documentation related to estimation and pricing.
- Client Interaction:
Liaise with clients as required to clarify project details and specifications.
Ensure a high level of customer service and timely communication throughout the bidding process.
Key Requirements:
- Experience:
Previous experience in estimating, particularly in joinery or manufacturing, is valued but not essential as training will be provided.
Familiarity with Excel and bespoke software platforms used in the construction/manufacturing industry.
- Skills:
Strong attention to detail with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and designs.
Good communication skills for interacting with both internal teams and clients.
- Software Proficiency:
Microsoft Excel (advanced knowledge preferred).
Experience with bespoke estimating software (training will be provided if necessary).
- Location:
Based in West Yorkshire, this is an office-based role with some flexibility around hours to accommodate school runs, doctor appointments, and occasional work-from-home days.
What We Offer:
Salary between £25,000 and £35,000, depending on experience.
Standard package (no car allowance, but expenses claimable).
