An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Estimator to join an award-winning SME based in Leamington Spa.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in preparing cost estimates for various projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all aspects of the estimation process. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in estimating and gain valuable experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.

  • Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 DOE
  • Hours: Monday – Thursday 9:00am – 5:00pm and Fridays 9:00am – 4:00pm (36.5 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for construction projects
  • Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare estimates
  • Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates
  • Maintain and update cost databases and estimation tools
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and tender documents
  • Monitor and report on project costs and progress
  • Develop an understanding of systems, products, and services in order to quote projects accurately
  • Liaising with suppliers to obtain prices
  • Contacting clients to discuss enquiries and quotations where required
  • Logging enquiries on an Excel database, maintaining and updating when necessary
  • Estimating small enquiries
  • Reading and understanding drawings
  • Document preparation, job raising and filing
  • Downloading enquiries and ascertaining project flooring requirements
  • Utilising Callidus measuring software

  • Smart and professional appearance
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic and keen eye for detail
  • Methodical approach to solving queries
  • Analytical with good numerical skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage a number of tasks concurrently
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Adept at using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Ability to work on own initiative but understand level of responsibility within a team
  • GCSE English, Maths, and Information Technology equivalent to grade C and above
