Job summary

3dpersonnels in Wembley, London, is seeking an Assistant Estimator to support pricing RC frame, groundworks and external works packages from enquiry to submission. This development role offers real ownership of smaller tenders with mentoring from senior estimators.

You will work with the estimating and operations teams, attending site visits and progressing toward Estimator with structured progression and a varied workload across residential, commercial and infrastructure schemes.

Qualifications

• Some estimating or measurement experience within civils, groundworks, RC frame or steel fixing.
• Confident reading drawings and taking off quantities.
• Construction-related qualification such as HNC, HND or degree in civil engineering, construction management or quantity surveying.
• Good Excel skills, with any exposure to take off software an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Producing quantity take offs from drawings for substructure, RC frame, drainage and external works packages.
• Preparing and issuing enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors, then analysing and comparing returns.
• Assisting with the build up of rates covering labour, plant, materials and preliminaries.
• Compiling tender documentation and supporting submissions to deadline.
• Maintaining the enquiry register, tender tracker and pricing records.
• Attending site visits and mid tender interviews with the estimating and operations teams.
• Liaising with the commercial and site teams on handover of successful tenders.

Assistant Estimator
Wembley | Permanent, full time | Up to £42,000 plus package

The company

Our client is a specialist RC frame and groundworks contractor based in North West London. The business started out in steel fixing in London in 2005 and has grown into a contractor delivering RC frames, groundworks, external works and steel fixing across London and the wider UK. Work spans RC frame construction, concrete foundations, basement construction, drainage, section 278 works, external works, brick and block and sheet piling, across residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure schemes.

The role

Working alongside the estimating team, you will support the pricing of RC frame, groundworks and external works packages from enquiry through to submission. This is a genuine development role. You will be given real ownership of smaller tenders early on with support from senior estimators, and a clear route towards Estimator as you progress.

What we are looking for

• Some estimating or measurement experience within civils, groundworks, RC frame or steel fixing. Candidates from a quantity surveying or site engineering background looking to move into estimating will be considered
• Confident reading drawings and taking off quantities
• A construction related qualification such as an HNC, HND or degree in civil engineering, construction management or quantity surveying
• Good Excel skills, with any exposure to take off software an advantage
• Organised, accurate and comfortable working to tender deadlines
• Full right to work in the UK
