Assistant Estimator - Permanent - Main Contractor - Derby - Multi-Sector - Civil Engineering

Your new company
You will be joining a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Derby. This multi-accredited organisation operates across a multitude of different sectors, including the commercial, industrial and energy industries, and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. They are looking to grow their pre-contract team and onboard an Assistant Estimator to join them.
This is a full-time permanent position based in their Derby office with flexible working.

Your new role
As Assistant Estimator, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  1. Working alongside and supporting experienced estimators to prepare and submit tenders from first principles, including obtaining quotations for subcontract work, materials and plant, and compiling programmes.
  2. Undertaking quantity take-offs from tender documents and producing bills of quantities.
  3. Assisting in the preparation of tender submissions.
  4. Supporting with the preparation of reports for senior management and clients.
  5. Monitoring tender deadlines and ensuring timely submission of all required documentation.
  6. Undertaking general administrative duties to support the pre-contract team.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you must have:

  1. Previous estimating or quantity surveying experience in groundworks, reinforced concrete structures and general civil works (ideal).
  2. Strong numerical, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  3. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
  5. Full UK driving licence.
