Job summary

Balfour Beatty Living Places is seeking an Estimator for highways maintenance and improvement schemes in Basingstoke. You will join the Work Winning Team to translate practical experience into winning bids and solutions.

Working with operations, bid professionals and commercial teams, you’ll develop competitive pricing, assess risks, and support tender responses to win long-term local authority contracts across the UK.

Qualifications

  • Experience in highways maintenance, civil engineering or related delivery roles.
  • Ability to review information and understand project delivery methods.
  • Ability to identify risks, opportunities and delivery challenges.
  • Strong collaboration to develop winning submissions.
  • Interest in developing a career in estimating, bidding and work winning.

  • Develop pricing and cost estimates for highway schemes.

About The Role
Estimator – Highways Maintenance & Improvement Schemes Balfour Beatty Living Places (Basingstoke)

You don’t need to be an Estimator to become one. Many successful Estimators started in site, engineering, commercial, procurement or local authority highways roles. What they share is a strong understanding of project delivery, risk, and opportunity.

We're looking for an Estimator to join our Work Winning Team in Basingstoke, helping secure long-term local authority highways maintenance and improvement contracts across the UK. If you're ready to turn your practical experience into winning solutions, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside operational, commercial and bid professionals, you'll help develop competitive and innovative solutions for local authority highways contracts.

You'll Play An Important Role In
  • Developing pricing and cost estimates
  • Assessing risks and opportunities
  • Supporting bid submissions and tender responses
  • Working with operational teams to develop delivery solutions
  • Helping secure projects that maintain and improve local highway networks
Who we're looking for
  • Have experience in highways maintenance, civil engineering, site delivery, engineering, commercial management, procurement or local authority services
  • Enjoy reviewing information and understanding how projects will be delivered
  • Can identify risks, opportunities and practical delivery challenges
  • Like working collaboratively to solve problems and build winning submissions
  • Want to develop a long-term career in estimating, bidding and work winning
