Job description

We have a six-month opportunity to join Thames Water's Strategic Resource Options (SRO) team as the SRO Assistant Environment Manager. This role involves working across the project portfolio, which includes investments of approximately £5bn to £6bn to enhance drought resilience and environmental protection.

You will be part of the Client team ensuring project requirements align with regional water resource plans. The initial focus will be on the Southeast Strategic Resource Option (SESRO) reservoir and London Water Recycling scheme, progressing through regulatory processes and supporting planning and procurement stages.

The role involves assisting in setting industry-leading standards, working with Environment Managers, and ensuring project compliance with sponsor requirements.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing environmental management advice for initial site works, including planning, environmental review, and audits.
  • Assisting in environmental risk mitigation and developing appropriate measures.
  • Producing and procuring environmental deliverables related to regulatory, sustainability, and biodiversity standards.
  • Supporting the environmental assurance functions of the SRO Portfolio team.

This is a full-time, flexible role based at hybrid locations in London and Camelford House, with a 36-hour workweek on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

Requirements:
  • A degree in Environmental or Science disciplines.
  • Post-qualification experience, preferably in the utility sector.
  • Experience in environmental management and site supervision.
  • Knowledge of environmental planning and legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, adaptable approach.
  • A valid UK driving license for site visits.
