Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations - Inverness, Aberdeen, Perth or Glasgow
Salary: £58,100 - £87,100 + car / cash allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Responsibilities
- As part of SSEN Transmission Pathway to 2030 programme of works, assist to drive forward projects and bring big ideas, new skills and innovative thinking to grow teams to successfully deliver a network for Net Zero.
- Work within the HVDC Engineering Team on HVDC projects; direct HVDC experience is desirable but not necessary.
- Collaborate with candidates with strong multi discipline engineering / project management experience in construction, consultancy, or client organisations within the Energy Industry; civil engineering bias is preferable.
- Collaborate with the Project Engineering Manager to deliver HVDC Engineering scope (LCP Gate 1 to Gate 4) for assigned project / package (typical value £700M - £2000M); identify and manage Engineering and Quality risks and implement proactive measures to minimise risk to project/asset quality and programme.
- Provide direct Line Management for project engineers and coordinate all engineering activities, including selection and management of engineering consultants and the technical direction of contractors.
- Ensure clear and robust communication of project technical requirements to project teams; ensure teams understand the need to refer technical issues to engineering; identify technology elements requiring Technical Authority approval and plan TA approval with the technical team.
- Promote and manage safety within the project portfolio, including Safety in Design, CDM procedures and Principle designer practice, review construction methods (RAMS) and commissioning and operational safety requirements.
- Own Design Management Plans, Engineering Works Information, scheduling of Design Reviews and ensure competent project technical leadership in conjunction with the Project Engineering Manager and Technical Authority.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership in engineering with a relevant degree (preferably Chartered Engineer) and extensive experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and delivering complex, civil-biased projects.
- Strong technical expertise in Transmission networks, including core and facilitating functions, with a solid grasp of legal and regulatory obligations.
- In-depth knowledge of legislation affecting Transmission network management, particularly CDM and ESQCR, and their implications for assets and projects.
- Familiarity with industry standards and specifications, with the ability to assess and apply relevant technical standards to diverse projects.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, capable of building relationships with consultants and experts, and effectively communicating complex technical issues to support senior decision-making.
