About the role

Balfour Beatty is seeking Assistant Engineering Managers to join their Power T&D team in Scotland. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in project engineering/management or design engineering, especially those familiar with electrical construction projects.

The role offers an opportunity to advance within a large international infrastructure group, focusing on supporting the Engineering Manager and Delivery Teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring scope clarity, design compliance, and timely delivery within budget.

What you'll be doing

  • Coordinate contract requirements with Project Manager, customer, suppliers, and departments upon contract award.
  • Meet with Design Delivery teams to identify project requirements, timelines, and costs.
  • Control, update, and report workload progress, highlighting potential issues and solutions.
  • Report contract scope variations, indicating implications, and obtain approval before proceeding.
  • Develop and revise detailed design project plans.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure timely delivery.
  • Compile and submit project status reports to stakeholders.
  • Specify and quantify equipment/materials for optimal benefit.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders for project success.
  • Coordinate engineering activities for projects with clients such as National Grid, SSE, Scottish Power, or DNO network.

Who we're looking for

  • Degree or relevant experience.
  • Experience in engineering design and project administration.
  • Strong administration, project control, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic engineering and project management knowledge.
