A Little More About Your Role…

As an Assistant Engineer / Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering civil and bridge engineering projects, using your knowledge and skills to ensure quality, timeliness, and budget adherence. You will supervise and support junior team members.


Responsibilities

  1. Bridge design
  2. Bridge strengthening and repair, inspections, and assessments
  3. Support to other teams in general civil and structural engineering
  4. Feasibility studies and options appraisals
  5. Preparation of specifications, reports, and health and safety risk assessments
  6. Preparation of fee estimates
  7. Supervision of junior team members

Our team is based in WSP’s vibrant city centre offices, with easy access to public transport and amenities. We work on a variety of projects in the rail and highways sectors for clients including HS2, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities, D&B Contractors, and private clients. Candidate Profile

  • MEng or MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Graduate membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Structural Engineers, nearing chartership
  • Experience in bridge design, maintenance, or assessment
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes or sector-specific standards (e.g., Network Rail standards, DMRB)
  • Interest in finite element analysis software and parametric design
  • Commercial awareness and cost management skills
  • Strong report-writing, communication, client handling, and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to adapt and support team development
