Job summary

Arcadis, a global leader in sustainable design and consultancy, is looking for an Assistant Civil Engineer to join the Civils and Structures team. The role focuses on delivering design outputs for rail and building projects, with mentorship toward chartered status and opportunities for professional development.

You will work as part of the Rail Eastern design team, collaborating across disciplines to meet client expectations and project constraints.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Structural engineering is required or preferred.
  • Experience in rail design and civil engineering is advantageous.
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver design outputs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design delivery for rail and multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet budget, timeframes and quality targets.

As a key member of the team, you will apply and develop your engineering skills whilst producing excellent designs for our Rail clients.You will be a key technical team member in the Rail Eastern design team, responsible for and involved in the delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget, time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations.We will provide professional and personal development which will allow you to progress your career towards chartered status. We will offer you the opportunity to be mentored by industry recognised Technical Organisers who will lend you their experience and ensure that the training you receive will give you the best possible chance of success.Other benefits include membership fees to join your relevant professional body, employer contribution pension scheme, flexible working and a flexible holiday scheme.Role accountabilities:As an Assistant Civil Engineer you will provide design delivery on a variety of structural and civil engineering led multi-disciplinary projects mainly within the Rail environment, but also within the buildings sector. As we operate in a diverse marketplace, you will gain an experience of working on a wide and varied portfolio of projects which will enhance your skills and test your technical knowledge.Collaborate with other team members to deliver project requirementsDevelop an understanding of the business benefits derived from the presence of Global Design and build working relationships with Global Design colleaguesWork as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe and quality objectives and meeting or exceeding client expectationsApply a methodical approach and design skills as well as technical writing skills at a project levelDeliver work that meet client and Arcadis requirementsOperate as a knowledgeable professional within a single area of work with little supervisionCapable of reliantly performing routine and some non-routine tasksMake technical evaluations that are limited to solution rather than end resultsWork on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tasks.Prepare drawings, specifications, reports and other project documentation ensuring accuracy and compliance with Arcadis requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practiceAn understanding of the design of unique elements of a project and how it ultimately interfaces with the clientAssist investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutionsContribute to the resolution of technical issues on projectsQualifications & Experience:Degree in Civil or Structural engineeringRelevant experience preferably structural design and civil engineering in a rail environmentAbility to work closely with design team and project team members at all levelsExperience in the use of Autodesk or Bentley CAD softwareAble to build and maintain good working relationships with other internal engineering teamsWorking toward Incorporated or Chartered Status of a relevant institutionWhy Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
