Grade 4 - £34,434 - £41,711

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

Are you passionate about public safety, emergency planning, and building community resilience? We're looking for a proactive and committed individual to join our team as an Assistant emergency Planning Officer, helping to ensure the city is prepared for, and able to respond to, a range of emergencies.

In this vital role, you will support the Council in meeting its statutory duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and other relevant legislation. You'll provide expert advice and practical support to ensure our resilience activities are delivered to a high standard, and that the Council remains operationally ready to respond to incidents affecting our communities.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Ensuring the Council is ready to respond effectively to emergencies and disruptions.

Promoting awareness and understanding of resilience across the Council, its partners, and the public.

Leading and supporting officers in major incidents, ensuring the deployment of appropriate on a rota, responding to emergencies as required.

Supporting the delivery of training, exercises, and ongoing development of resilience activities.

Working closely with multi-agency partners and contributing to local and regional emergency planning efforts.

Assisting in the management of emergency accommodation, facilities, and public safety during incidents.

Horizon scanning and developing best practices within the resilience field.

What We’re Looking For:

A strong understanding of emergency planning, civil contingencies, or a related discipline.

Excellent communication and engagement skills across a variety of stakeholders.

A calm, flexible approach and ability to work under pressure during emergency situations.

Willingness to work flexibly, including out-of-hours as part of a Duty Officer rota.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
