About The Role

This is an exciting new opportunity to work with the developing Educational Psychology team in Gloucestershire. The role will assist Gloucestershire Educational Psychology Service in delivering a wide range of activities and support to children and young people in schools and settings.

About You

This role will involve the following tasks:

Undertake a range of information gathering, observations, assessments, and interventions pertinent to the services’ work with children/ YP and their parents/ carers. Participate in the development and delivery of psycho-educational support programmes. This work is carried out under the supervision of a qualified Educational Psychologist.

Information gathering on behalf of an Educational Psychologist to support SEND processes.

Engage in relevant searches of psychological literature to develop and enhance courses, packages and materials used by the Educational Psychology Service.

Collect data and produce brief reports to underpin a range of development initiatives, training and preventative/ project work.

Support evaluation of service delivery.

Auditing of case files/ general administrative support and the use of data to explore trends and patterns under the guidance of a qualified EP.

Keep accurate and retrievable records of work and provide written feedback as required.

Administrative tasks to support service outcomes.

Attend service meetings and contribute to aims of the service.

Report on a day-to-day basis to a Senior EP or nominated Educational Psychologist.

The Position Is Subject To Specific Eligibility Criteria

At least 2:1 honours degree in Psychology (or recognised equivalent) and the Graduate Basis for Registration or Chartership (GBR/ GBC) as a psychologist as required by the British Psychological Society.

Significant post-qualifying experience of working directly with children and parents, for example, experience of teaching, youth work, mentoring or emotional wellbeing support.

Have knowledge and understanding of the Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs and the special educational needs in a broader sense.

To hold a valid full driving licence and ability to drive/access to a vehicle.

Ability to demonstrate significant understanding of how psychology has influenced practice to date.

The expectation is that all those employed as Assistant EPs would wish to embark on the professional doctorate and qualify as an Educational Psychologist and are seeking relevant experience to support their application to Doctoral training.
