Job summary

CSA Landscape Ltd is seeking Assistant Ecologists to join our teams in Hampshire, Hertfordshire and Gloucestershire. You will assist senior ecologists with habitat surveys, desk studies, and data compilation, using QGIS and GIS tools, while developing field skills and ecological knowledge.

We offer a nine-month full-time contract, hybrid working, and a strong training and mentoring program to support your career development in ecology and consultancy.

Qualifications

• Interest in UK-based ecology and knowledge of wildlife legislation
• Evidence of developing ecological field skills
• Excellent written English and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in MS Office software
• Full UK driving licence and car for business use
• Experience with protected species / habitat surveys
• Willingness to undertake up to 3 night-time surveys per week
• Membership of CIEEM or relevant professional bodies
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather

Responsibilities

• Assisting with UK Habitat Classification surveys and protected species surveys for a range of species
• Coordinating survey work and maintaining latest survey equipment and technology
• Completing desktop studies and interpreting biological records
• Using QGIS to prepare Habitats Plans and Biodiversity Enhancement Plans
• Assist with preparation of technical reports and mitigation strategies
