Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an Assistant Ecologist to join our Nature Services Team in Liverpool, Manchester, or Wrexham. You will support ecological surveys, tender preparation, and the production of ecological deliverables across diverse projects worldwide.

We value candidates with extended Phase 1 habitat/UKHab survey experience, knowledge of protected species surveys, and a willingness to learn within a supportive team. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Academic qualification in Ecology or a related discipline.
• Qualifying Member status with CIEEM (or eligible).
• Experience in extended Phase 1 habitat/UKHab surveys and protected species surveys.
• Experience in ecological survey, ideally in consultancy.
• Enthusiastic, energetic, and willing to learn.
• Knowledge of wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ecology surveys including extended Phase 1 habitat/UKHab surveys and protected species surveys.
• Assist with tenders for schemes and habitat, botanical, and protected species surveys.
• Input into deliverables such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Management Plans, and EIAs.
