Job summary

Brown & Co is seeking a motivated Assistant Ecologist with 2–3 years’ professional experience to join our growing team in the UK. You will support the delivery of ecological surveys, assessments and reports across a diverse range of projects.

Qualifications

Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
2–3 years’ consultancy or industry experience (including placements or graduate roles).
Good knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.
Experience supporting ecological surveys and report writing.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Proactive, with a willingness to learn and develop; a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

Assisting with and leading protected species and habitat surveys (e.g. bats, reptiles, great crested newts, birds).
Supporting the preparation of technical reports, including PEAs, EcIAs, and method statements.
Undertaking data analysis and contributing to project deliverables.
Assisting with licence applications and mitigation strategies.
Carrying out site walkovers and assisting with habitat assessments.
Supporting project management and ensuring work is delivered on time.
