Job summary

Morepeople in London is hiring an Assistant Ecologist to support diverse ecological projects and field surveys across the South of England. You will gain experience across protected species, habitats and project delivery, while working with a supportive ecology team and evolving responsibilities.

The role involves fieldwork, report writing, and collaboration with colleagues to ensure timely, high-quality outputs.

Qualifications

• A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline - Preferred
• 1 year consultancy or industry experience.
• Experience supporting ecological surveys and technical report writing.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A proactive approach and genuine willingness to learn and develop.
• Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to ecological fieldwork and reporting.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out protected species and habitat surveys, including bats, reptiles, and birds.
• Assisting with habitat assessments.
• Supporting the preparation of technical ecological reports, including PEAs and EIAs.
• Undertaking ecological data analysis and contributing to project deliverables.
• Supporting the delivery of ecological assessments in accordance with relevant legislation, guidance and planning requirements.
• Recording and managing accurate field survey data and ecological observations.
• Contributing to technical project documentation and ensuring information is presented clearly and accurately.
• Supporting project management activities and helping to ensure work is delivered on time and to the required standard.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the ecology team and wider project teams.
• Using relevant ecological software and mapping tools to support project delivery.
• Maintaining a good working knowledge of relevant ecological legislation, planning policy and industry guidance.
