Job description

Assistant Drainage Engineer - Flexible around UK locations, Warrington

AtkinsRéalis provides drainage design services to Highway, Rail, Private Developer, Energy and Water markets with key clients such as HS2, Highways England, and Network Rail. Due to growing workload, we are looking to strengthen our teams across the UK.

We require Senior Drainage Engineers to support local teams and deliver remote projects. You will play a key role in designing drainage infrastructure, transportation, and private developer projects, especially highway drainage and SuDS, while supporting the development of our drainage capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading drainage design from concept to detailed design and construction, individually or in multidisciplinary schemes.
  • Promoting digital solutions and BIM integration in drainage design.
  • Reviewing and assuring the quality of drainage models, calculations, and drawings.
  • Managing design tasks, delivery, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Mentoring junior team members and supporting local capability development.
  • Contributing to bids and technical proposals.

Requirements:

  • Qualified with ICE, CIWEM, or equivalent.
  • Experience in all drainage design stages and familiarity with hydraulic software, BIM.
  • Strong report writing and client engagement skills.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, with leadership qualities.
