Locations: Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Epsom, Glasgow, Leeds, Peterborough, and Warrington.

AtkinsRéalis provides drainage design services to Highway, Rail, Private Developer, Energy, and Water markets, working with key clients such as HS2, Highways England, and Network Rail, along with many UK water companies. Due to increasing workload, we are looking to strengthen our teams.

We require Senior Drainage Engineers to join our teams across the UK. We seek strong collaborators who can support their local team and deliver remote projects as part of our national Practice.

Your role will involve designing drainage infrastructure, transportation, and private developer projects, focusing on highway drainage and development drainage including SuDS. You will also support the leadership and development of our drainage capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading drainage design from concept to detailed design and construction, either as standalone projects or within multi-disciplinary schemes.
  • Promoting digital solutions in drainage design, including full BIM integration.
  • Reviewing drainage designs, models, calculations, and drawings for standards compliance and providing technical assurance.
  • Assigning tasks and managing delivery within time and budget constraints.
  • Mentoring and developing graduates and technicians in drainage.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships to support drainage design and consent processes.
  • Enhancing local drainage design capabilities.
  • Leading drainage designs and ensuring quality assurance across our global design centers.
  • Championing drainage within multidisciplinary projects.
  • Supporting bid preparations and risk assessments.

Requirements:

  • Qualified with ICE, CIWEM, or similar.
  • Proficient in designing all aspects of drainage from concept to detailed design.
  • Experience with hydraulic software, 3D tools, and BIM.
  • Skilled in report and specification writing and data collection.
  • Client-focused with a proactive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and in teams, managing projects to completion.
  • Capable of managing scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Flexible, detail-oriented, and proactive with strong leadership qualities.
  • Experience with private and public sector clients and procurement processes.
