Job Description

AtkinsRéalis provides drainage design services to Highway, Rail, Private Developer, Energy and Water markets, working with key clients such as HS2, Highways England, and Network Rail. Due to increasing workload, we are looking to strengthen our teams across the UK.

We require Senior Drainage Engineers to join our teams from various locations. The role involves designing drainage infrastructure for transportation and private development projects, with an emphasis on highway drainage and SuDS. You will support local teams and deliver remote projects as part of our national practice.

Responsibilities
  • Lead drainage design projects from concept to detailed design and construction.
  • Promote digital solutions and BIM integration in drainage design.
  • Review and assure the technical quality of drainage models, calculations, and drawings.
  • Manage design tasks, delivery schedules, and budgets.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Develop stakeholder relationships to support design and consent processes.
  • Enhance local drainage design capabilities.
  • Provide technical assurance for designs from our Global Design Centre.
  • Support multi-disciplinary projects and bid preparations.
Requirements
  • Qualified with ICE, CIWEM, or similar.
  • Experience in all drainage design phases and familiarity with hydraulic software, 3D tools, and BIM.
  • Strong report writing and data collection skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and within teams.
  • Leadership qualities and experience with private/public sector clients.
