You will collaborate with a high-performing, integrated team focused on high-profile IPOs and transactions. This role provides diverse and challenging experiences, fostering continuous learning, development, and a strong sense of achievement.

The opportunity

We assist corporate and financial clients in achieving strategic goals, whether through acquisitions, divestments, or fundraising. Our clients range from UK entrepreneurial businesses to large global corporations across various sectors, often involving complex assignments that require collaboration across disciplines and jurisdictions.

Our core work involves due diligence—assessing a target company's finances and projections, identifying opportunities, risks, sensitivities, and potential mitigations, and reporting findings to clients, banks, investors, and other stakeholders.

You will work alongside experienced professionals, developing your skills in conducting due diligence across different situations and sectors. There are opportunities for travel within the UK and internationally. Projects typically involve working as part of a multidisciplinary, cross-service line team.

Your responsibilities

  • Understand key business drivers and co-develop our approach with clients.
  • Agree on value measurements and deliver insights, factual conclusions, and advice to provide value to clients.
  • Project manage teams, collaborating closely with team members and forming strong internal links within Transaction Diligence and other departments in EY, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Gather, verify, and assess information to formulate views.
  • Plan, prepare, and review deliverables, including reports, presentations, and client discussions.

Additionally, you will:

  • Plan and monitor team progress.
  • Share technical and other knowledge with your team and department.
  • Develop internal and external networks through personal contacts.
  • Identify opportunities to sell additional services to clients.
  • Contribute to business initiatives such as key accounts, recruitment, and client service frameworks.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted business advisor and key client contact.
  • Take responsibility for your own learning and development, provide coaching/support to others, and participate in upward feedback.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Ability to gather, verify, and analyze information to formulate views and conclusions.
  • Experience in planning, preparing, and reviewing various deliverables, including reports and presentations.
  • Supportive attitude towards junior team members, aiding their development.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Business development experience.
  • An ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong commercial or relevant industry/transaction experience, including financial due diligence.
  • A passion for delivering high-quality client service.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Strong commercial or relevant industry/transaction experience (including financial due diligence).
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Project management skills.
  • Effective time management and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Team player with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Counselling skills (not essential).

What we look for

We value dedication to teamwork, curiosity, a proactive approach to learning, and confidence in speaking up. A combination of technical expertise and strong communication skills is essential for success in this role.
