Location: Remote-flexible (with travel across England, approx. 30–40%)

About the Role
We’re looking for a credible, committed education leader to step into a nationally significant role with the NCETM.
As Assistant Director (Targeted Support in Maths), you’ll help drive school improvement across England – working with schools that need support the most and helping them get ready to engage meaningfully with the Teaching for Mastery approach.
You’ll work closely with the Associate Director, provide strategic leadership to the Maths Hubs Network, and play a central role in shaping how targeted support is delivered, measured, and sustained.

You will:
What You’ll Bring
Qualified teacher status with strong Maths education expertise
Leadership experience across schools or in a system leadership role
Deep knowledge of Maths pedagogy, including Teaching for Mastery
Skilled communicator, comfortable engaging senior stakeholders
Proven ability to design and deliver impactful CPD
Confident observing teaching, offering feedback, and supporting improvement
Ability to influence, coach, and build strong relationships
Strategic thinker, comfortable using data to inform decisions
Familiarity with national policy and education priorities in England
Self-motivated, thrives in dispersed or remote teams
