Job description

Assistant Director Statutory SEND Operations | Permanent contract | £75,322 to £84,031 per annum (Scale O) | 37 hours per week | County Hall, Norwich

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to join us as Assistant Director High Needs SEND Operations to enhance outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Norfolk and to contribute to our area ambition for every child to Flourish. The Council has made a considerable investment in our Childrens Services programme of transformation and in developing our Local First Inclusion Programme. Our practice approach is relationship-based, strengths-oriented, and outcome-focused, ensuring children are prepared to learn, build positive relationships, and receive family-based care.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the co-ordination of the delivery statutory duties for EHCPs across Norfolk, ensuring that children and their families receive the right support and provision at the right time.
  • Embedding relationship-based practice across SEND services, ensuring that children and families' voices are central to the delivery of services.
  • Acting as the strategic lead for EHCP Operations within Local First Inclusion programme workstreams.

We have a great team here in Norfolk, so you'll work with fantastic colleagues in Childrens Services and be a member of the Childrens Services Extended Leadership Team.

As our ideal candidate, you will have significant senior operational and strategic leadership experience understanding local and national SEND policies with an EHCP context, proven ability to build effective relationships across organisational boundaries and experience in developing solutions for outstanding service delivery. Critically you will hear, understand and respond to the needs of children, young people and their families, championing equality, diversity and inclusion as you go.
