Assistant Director – Statutory Compliance

Employment Type: Contract

Salary: £42,689.50 per annum

Context

Childhood First enables children and young people to recover from early life abuse and relational trauma, to enjoy life and to achieve their potential. We do this through the provision of specialised therapeutic residential care and treatment, together with family and network support. We are also a UKCP training and organisational member accredited with Middlesex University, providing in-house clinical training to its clinical staff.

Oakwood House is one of our residential specialist therapeutic homes, for a group of four young people with complex emotional and psychological needs, aged between 11 to 16 years at the time of placement.

Purpose

As the Assistant Director – Statutory Compliance, you will be a key member of the therapeutic community’s senior leadership team, taking the lead role in ensuring the services provided by the therapeutic community are fully compliant with statutory requirements and current best practice. This includes safeguarding practice and procedures as well as ensuring records and KPIs are maintained and available to Ofsted inspectors upon request.

What you’ll bring to the role
  • Experience of leading on safeguarding and statutory compliance in an Ofsted regulated children's residential setting.
  • Robust knowledge of legislation and best practice relating to looked after children.
  • Have achieved, or willing to undertake, level 5 diploma in leadership and management for residential care.
  • A high level of communication skills and methodical approach to work.
  • A sense of personal resilience and psychological awareness, and the ability to form open and constructive relationships including a willingness to consider self in relationships with others in terms of impact on the work.
  • Ideally, experience of residential care, and leading a team.
Tasks
  • Working as part of the senior leadership team to develop safe, supportive and nurturing relationships.
  • Supervision of statutory compliance administrator.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people to develop to their full potential.
  • Attending community events, including our yearly community holiday.
