About Us
UCL is one of the world's top 10 universities. It is London’s global university: distinctively committed to working at the frontiers between disciplines and cross-disciplinary approaches to global problems, while also pursuing disciplinary excellence in its own right. Based in the heart of London, it is a modern, outward-looking institution.
Led by a Vice-Provost, Research Innovation & Global Engagement (RIGE) brings together over 360 staff delivering a highly diverse portfolio of functions, services, and resources for the UCL community and external partners. RIGE seeks to maximise the synergy of its activities to support UCL’s strategic priorities in research, innovation, and global engagement.
About The Role
RIGE Operations provides support on estates, financial and risk planning, human resources, operational activities, EDI, organisational development, and internal communications. It co-ordinates cross-RIGE initiatives, liaises with operational colleagues in Research & Innovation Services and Innovation & Enterprise, and provides more in-depth support to all other areas.
The Assistant Director of Operations leads on strategic planning, budget planning and forecasting, risk management, and business continuity for the RIGE area.
About You
As the Assistant Director of Operations, you will be instrumental in driving strategic planning, budget planning and forecasting, risk management, and business continuity. You will lead and coordinate planning activities, ensuring alignment with institutional strategic objectives and providing actionable recommendations. Your role will involve overseeing budgeting activities and ensuring effective resource allocation and accurate forecasting. You will lead risk management efforts, regularly updating and reporting on the risk register, and creating working groups to manage and mitigate risks.
Additionally, you will develop coordinated plans at the pan-RIGE level and represent RIGE at institutional planning and financial forums. Your expertise in strategic planning, financial management, and risk mitigation will be crucial in ensuring the success and sustainability of RIGE’s initiatives. Strong leadership, analytical skills, and effective communication will be essential as you engage with senior management and stakeholders to drive RIGE’s objectives forward.
