Assistant Director of Operations – Care & Clinical

Pilgrims’ Friend Society is looking for an Assistant Director of Operations to lead and develop our care services across our care homes. This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of outstanding, person-centred care aligned with our Christian ethos and regulatory responsibilities.

You’ll oversee the development of care quality, support Operations Managers, and drive strategic improvements across our care homes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, support, and line manage Operations Managers to ensure exceptional care and regulatory compliance;
  • Drive implementation of care quality assurance and clinical best practices;
  • Oversee complaints and safeguarding processes;
  • Manage the development of care-related policies and procedures;
  • Monitor staffing levels in relation to occupancy and resident dependency;
  • Champion a high-performing team culture through regular supervisions and appraisals;
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure care-related communications and materials are compliant and up to date;
  • Identify and support network-wide champions in specialist areas ( end-of-life care);
  • Deputise for the Director of Operations as needed.
Skills & Experience:
  • Relevant qualification in health and social care (, Level 5 Leadership or nursing qualification);
  • Minimum of three years' senior leadership experience in care and clinical operations, ideally across multiple sites;
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and complaints procedures;
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise, and appraise multi-level teams and manage performance;
  • Skilled in developing and implementing care-related policies, audits, and inspections;
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the mission of Pilgrims’ Friend Society.

This role has an Occupational Requirement to be filled by a practicing Christian, in line with the Equality Act (2010).

Hours

40 hours per week, usually worked over 5 days

“On-call” cover required to meet service demands
