The successful applicant is expected to lead the Financial Strategy and Innovation team, responsible for financial planning, costing and productivity, together with management and financial reporting in relation to commissioner contracts and the delivery of Trust savings targets. The role is also responsible for the management of the financial systems team and will provide oversight to system developments over the next 12 months.

Staff development and wellbeing is core to all that we do, so an individual who is passionate and willing to contribute to lead aspects of the departmental response to this agenda is key; both inside and outside the Trust.

This secondment role is required to cover an interim period of leave over the next 12 months.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Director will be responsible for leading, motivating and managing the Financial Strategy and Innovation team and will be required to work closely with finance, performance and operational colleagues, project groups and other partner organisations, including other NHS organisations to ensure the provision of efficient and effective financial/activity information.

The Assistant Director is a member of the Senior Finance Leadership Team, sharing responsibility for the financial and business governance and performance of the Trust, its strategic direction and for meeting the Trust's objectives.

The post holder will manage the Finance Strategy and Innovation Team on a daily basis and will provide them with leadership, direction and motivation through objective setting, regular performance reviews, training and development.

The Assistant Director will support the strategic planning arrangements that deliver safe and high-quality patient care and experience, and the effective use of resources, translating complex and sensitive strategic initiatives into robust financial plans.
