• Significant senior leadership experience in internal audit, risk management, assurance or governance.
• Proven track record of leading and inspiring high-performing teams.
• Excellent relationship-building with senior stakeholders and regulators.
• Strong influencing and communication skills to challenge and improve.
• Understanding of governance, risk management, internal control and assurance.
• Interest in innovation, data analytics and modern assurance practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for Internal Audit, Risk Management, Counter Fraud and Intelligence.
• Develop and deliver a modern assurance framework to support improvement and financial sustainability.
• Act as the Council's Chief Audit Executive, offering independent assurance to the Audit Committee.
• Lead annual audit plan development, prioritising significant risks and priorities.
• Advance risk management arrangements enabling proactive identification and response to risks.
• Ensure robust counter fraud arrangements to prevent and detect fraud and corruption.
• Provide strategic advisory support on major projects, programmes and organisational change.
• Champion innovation, data analytics and emerging technologies to enhance insight.
• Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders to influence governance and performance.
