Job Description

A private equity-backed Tier 2 civils contractor is seeking an Assistant Design Manager to join their Preconstruction team. The company has a strong portfolio of secure frameworks within the Rail and Highways markets, typically undertaking projects in the sub-100M bracket. This is a hybrid position offering significant flexibility.

The role allows for working from home four days a week, with one day in the office. The company's culture is pleasant, supportive, and family-oriented, reflecting its heritage. The business is ambitious, aiming for organic growth and targeted acquisitions, which will create opportunities for career advancement.

As an Assistant Design Manager, you will support the Preconstruction team by managing the design process across projects within the rail portfolio. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of design work.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  1. A degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering or construction.
  2. Knowledge of construction and civil engineering works; site-based experience is highly desirable.
  3. Experience in design management during the preconstruction phase, preferably within the rail sector.
  4. Experience working under NEC3/4 contracts.

The salary range is £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including a car allowance, private healthcare, pension, life assurance, 25 days of annual leave, and a day off for your birthday.
