About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Design Manager (MEPH) to join our Major Projects team at the iconic Old Oak Common development in London.

HS2's new c. £1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK's best-connected rail station upon completion. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will oversee the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.

The station will feature six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. It will provide high-speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, the North, and direct services to three major airports, along with passenger and retail facilities for an exceptional customer experience.

As an Assistant Design Manager (MEPH), you will support and manage the timely delivery of quality-assured detailed designs by the Consultant and coordinate with subcontractors for fabrication submissions across various zones and phases of installation.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Develop and compile technical design packages with Consultants aligned with the project schedule.
  2. Manage the delivery and coordination of all technical aspects of the BBVS JV OOC Station construction Work Packages (MEPHFC).
  3. Coordinate between design, construction teams, and subcontractors to support the built program.
  4. Assist the Engineering, BIM, and Technical Assurance teams to achieve Code 1 Acceptance of all Design Deliverables.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Engineering Degree in one of the MEPHFC disciplines or proven equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Design Management or Engineering Management.
  • Proficiency in English communication skills (both verbal and written).
